Summer Reading

Summer Reading Webpage Hero Banner

Summer is a great time to grow, refine, and improve your reading skills. The Summer Reading Program works to keep your child engaged in reading even after school dismisses for the schoolyear. The loss of academic skills when school is not in session, otherwise known as the summer slide, is largely attributed to the lack of reading. Access to books over the summer helps increase enjoyment of books and prepare your child for the following schoolyear.

The benefits of the Summer Reading Program extend well past the summer months, and helps foster healthy reading habits that can last a lifetime. You may even find your new favorite hobby!

Each summer, the Library hosts a Kickoff to Summer Reading Program event to get you and your child excited about reading! Sign up on Beanstack to track your reading and collect special completion badges along the way. At the end of summer, visit our calendar of events to find Summer Reading Celebrations!
