What is the Mobile Classroom?
The Mobile Classroom brings innovative STEAM-based learning experiences to schools, organizations, and community events throughout La Porte County. Access to high-quality science, technology, engineering, art, and math resources build 21st century skills, like digital literacy and critical thinking, in students of all ages.
The Mobile Classroom is a 38 foot recreational vehicle converted into a state-of-the-art classroom on wheels. The classroom can accommodate up to 28 students at one time. The Library offers a variety of interactive workshops and lessons taught in the classroom.
The Mobile Classroom is free to students of all ages at businesses, schools, and organizations within La Porte County Public Library’s service district. Mileage fees apply for visits outside of the Library’s service area.

Funding for the classroom was made possible through the generosity of several private donors. The technology and equipment needed for the classroom was provided by Howmet Aerospace Foundation in the amount of $50,000. Howmet Aerospace Foundation supports programs that help prepare the 21st-century engineering and advanced manufacturing workforce.
