La Porte County Public Library is updating its hours of operation at several branch locations beginning Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
The Fish Lake, Hanna, Kingsford Heights, Rolling Prairie and Union Mills branches will now be open weekdays from 12:00pm to 6:00pm, and Saturdays from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Each branch will maintain its current closed days, except for the Fish Lake Branch, which will now be open on Mondays and closed on Thursdays. Having one closed day per week at our smaller branches allows us to effectively allocate staff time and library resources while meeting the needs of our communities.
Hours at the Main Library, LPCPL Exchange and Coolspring Branch will remain unchanged. Visit laportelibrary.org on September 2 to view current hours at all locations.
“As part of our strategic planning process, we’ve gathered input from staff and customers about building and materials access,” said Fonda Owens, Director. “The updated schedule provides consistent hours across branch locations, making it easier for customers to plan their visits.”
Along with the updated hours, the library is expanding access to meeting spaces at branch locations. La Porte County organizations can request building access to use meeting spaces outside of normal operating hours. To further improve convenience for our customers, all-weather outdoor lockers will be installed at the Rolling Prairie, Hanna and Fish Lake branches this fall. These lockers will allow customers to pick up hold items outside of regular open hours. More information about using the lockers will be available soon.
