5 Ways to Celebrate National Library Lovers’ Month

February is National Library Lovers’ Month! During this month-long celebration, we promote the significance of libraries, the programs they offer, and their impact on the communities they serve.

This month is dedicated to patrons who show their love and appreciation for libraries and librarians. Here’s how you can celebrate and connect with your library all month long (and beyond)!

  1. Get a Library Card

Library cards give you unlimited access to a wealth of information in the form of books, magazines, eBooks, audiobooks, DVDs, CDs, the Library of Things, access to Makerspace equipment at the LPCPL Exchange and more.

LPCPL offers a variety of card types that provide different levels of access perfect for you, your family, or organization. Residents of La Porte County can apply for an account at any branch, and will need to bring a photo ID, proof of address, and parent or guardian permission if under the age of 18.

La Porte County Public Library does not charge overdue fees for items returned in good condition.

  2. Explore our Digital Collection

In addition to our thousands of physical materials, there is even more to explore within our digital collection. Free with your library card, gain access to apps like Kanopy, Libby, and Hoopla to stream movies, music, eBooks and audiobooks.

  3. Attend a Library Event

Looking for new ways to get involved? The Library offers a variety of events for all ages at every branch. From interactive storytimes to educational presentations, technology help tables and hands-on crafting, there is something for everyone. Visit our event calendar for upcoming events.

  4. Follow us on Social Media

You can stay up to date on all things happening at the Library by following us on our social media channels and interacting with our content. We are present on Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram!

  5. Become a Maker

Learn a new skill at the LPCPL Exchange and become a Maker! Try your hand at embroidery, sewing, jewelry making, 3D printing, using the Cricut, audio and video editing software, laser, and more.
