Customize Your Gifts at the LPCPL Exchange this Holiday Season

The holidays are right around the corner, which means time is ticking to find the perfect gifts for your loved ones! Personalized gifts can range from customized jewelry to engraved keepsakes and handcrafted items. The possibilities are endless, and the end result is always a one-of-a-kind present that will be cherished for years to come. This year, take your gift-giving to the next level by customizing your gifts at the LPCPL Exchange!

The LPCPL Exchange is a multi-use community space where supported independent learning is encouraged, where creativity can flourish and where your ideas can become a reality. No matter your level of artistic ability or skillset, everyone (aged 8 and up) can become a Maker!

In order to gain access to the tools at the Exchange, you must first have a LPCPL library card. You can then become a certified Maker by completing the Makerspace online training course, which will introduce you to the Exchange, explain the equipment reservation process and review safety protocols and rules.

After the training courses are complete, you may schedule a one-on-one Start It! Equipment Training on a machine with one of the Exchange’s paraprofessionals, which will give you the tools you need to independently complete your customization project. This can be done online or by walking in.

When you come to the Exchange for your Start It! session, bring the items you are looking to customize. Tumblers, mugs, water bottles, wallets, clothing and stockings are just a few of the countless items that can be personalized. Leatherworking tools, the Cricut, the heat press, sewing machines and the Epilog Laser Cutter, among other pieces of equipment, are available to you for free to learn and use for your gifts.

Upon training completion, you will receive a Fabman Card that will allow you to reserve and independently use that piece of equipment in the future.
