The Friends are a group made up of community volunteers who are library advocates that help the library in several ways. They help by sharing their time and talents to organize and staff annual book sale events and other fundraisers. They encourage donations, gifts, endowments, and memorials to our library. The funds raised by the Friends support library classes and events at all of our locations. Without the sustained financial support from the Friends, the library would not be able to provide our community with the high quality events and classes.
The major fundraisers include annual book sales* held at various community locations, the Amazon Smile program, and other events. The monies raised by these events are used to purchase equipment, incentives, and other supplies needed for library classes and events.
*Due to our current renovations, the Library is not currently able to accept donations of used books, CDs, and DVDs.
By becoming a member of the Friends of the La Porte County Public Library, you will be given access to special “Members Only” events, including the Annual Preview Sale, which is held the day before our large summer book sale opens to the public. You will experience the rewarding feeling of sharing your time and talents by helping your community, while having fun at it. You will also be supporting early childhood literacy as well as improving reading skills for school-aged youth and adults throughout the community.
Fill out the registration form below and return it to any La Porte County Public Library location along with the membership fee.
