To obtain a photo copy of a genealogical record or an obituary from the La Porte Herald-Argus (or one of its predecessors), send your genealogy request form to the address below.

Requests must include the following:

• Your written request for information with as much specific information as possible.
• A check or money order to cover the cost of your request (no cash, please). Make checks/money orders out to La Porte County Public Library.
• $5.00 for the initial search requested (person, record, event, subject, etc.)
• $1.00 for each additional search requested, up to four (4).
• A self-addressed stamped envelope.

Example: A search for an obituary for Mary Smith will cost $5.00. A search for an obituary for Mary Smith and a search for John Smith's obituary will cost $6.00. Searches for five (5) different records, the maximum per written request, will cost $9.00.

You will receive one photocopy of our findings for each of your requested searches. You may ask for a maximum of FIVE (5) searches per written request. Refunds will be made for unsuccessful searches.
