Have you been wanting to take charge of your health but are unsure how to accomplish that goal? Well the library wants to help you! This September, the La Porte County Public Library will have classes and events to help you feel more informed and in control of your health.

On Friday, September 14th, the Lions Club is hosting a Community Health Fair at the Fish Lake Branch. The fair will include glaucoma and acuity eye screenings by the Lions Club, Q & A sessions with professional health educators from La Porte Hospital, and representatives from Covering Kids and Families of Indiana and Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Stop by the branch between 4:00pm and 6:00pm to participate.

In La Porte County, 11% of adults over the age of 20 are diagnosed with Diabetes. To learn more facts and tips to healthy living with Diabetes, attend the Prediabetes, Diabetes, and Beyond class at the Rolling Prairie Branch on Thursday, September 20th from 5:30pm – 6:30pm. This class will be led by Registered Nurse Certified Diabetes Educator Clarise Largen.

Join us for a free yoga class intended for beginners on Saturday, September 22nd from 10:00am – 11:00am at the Coolspring Branch. The class will be taught by April Kelly from Go Aerial Fitness in La Porte. Mats and blocks will be provided.
