About The Library’s Computer and Technology Services


La Porte County Public Library has computers at every location for your use. We also offer:

  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Chrombooks for check out and use in the building
  • Printing and copies: $0.15 for black and white, $0.25 for color
  • Faxing: $1.00 per page
  • Basic computer and technology help
  • Document scanning
  • JAWS Screen Reader* (This device allows those who are visually impaired to use the computer)

*Only available at the Main Library.

Do all locations have computers?

Yes, you can borrow a Chromebook or use a desktop computer at any Library location.

Do I need to use a library computer to access online databases?

No. If you are logged into your library account, you can access most of our databases from anywhere you’d like.

What programs do the computers have?

All locations have Chrome, Firefox, LibreOffice, and GIMP.

The Main Library has Microsoft Office 2010 and you can use Adobe Creative Suite 6 in the Spark Labs makerspace.

I have low vision, does the library have any software or equipment to help me?

Yes, the Main Library has a magnifier which allows you to magnify an type of written material. It is located in the Indiana Room.

JAWS, Job Access With Speech, which is the world’s most popular screen reader, developed for computer users whose vision loss prevents them from seeing screen content or navigating with a mouse is available in the Computer Lounge at the Main Library.
